A recent viral news story indicates that a shipwreck found at the bottom of La Baie des Chaleurs could be from the 1800’s.
They are wrong. The ship’s construction dates back much later than 1800 according to schematics kept in my family’s ancient archives. The ship was built with West Indies timber that must be at least 400 years old. This specific wood was famously used by one pirate in particular; the notorious Black Beard. I know this because my very own great grandfather was a crew member on Black Beard’s ship, “The Dark Nautilus”. They traveled all over the globe looking for treasures and fortune, secreting away every valuable piece they found. One of these valuables was the Amaze Medallion, which was said to possess ultimate power, making whoever held it infinitely wealthy.
Did the crew ever find it? No one knows… Great Grandpa said the captain was so obsessed with finding the medallion, searching day and night, neglecting his crew mates, that eventually they mutinied. Blood was shed one night, half of the men turned mutineers and the other half fighting alongside their captain. Many died, including the captain, and the ship itself sank deep into the dark abyss. Those who survived went on their own journeys in search of plunder, forgetting about the medallion. But grandpa never forgot. He always wanted to find out if the medallion was still on the Dark Nautilus. Maybe this is his legacy passed on to me, making it my duty to find it.
